Denise C. Ocasio, Esq.
Denise Ocasio brings a distinctive combination of litigation experience and planning depth to her work at Milvidskiy Law Group. A New Jersey and New York estate planning and elder law attorney, her practice is built on a simple but powerful premise: that families who plan thoughtfully are far better positioned to protect their assets, preserve their wishes, and avoid the conflicts that too often arise when planning is delayed or absent altogether.
Ms. Ocasio began her legal career as a litigator, handling probate disputes, nursing home neglect and abuse cases, and medical malpractice matters. That foundation continues to shape how she approaches planning today. Having spent years on the litigation side of estate and elder law disputes, she has a clear-eyed understanding of where plans break down, where families fracture, and what careful, well-constructed planning can prevent. For clients, that means working with an attorney who is not just drafting documents but anticipating the real-world conditions those documents will need to hold up under.
That litigation background also informs how Ms. Ocasio handles the emotional dimensions of estate planning. She understands that for many clients, the process surfaces anxiety, fear of making the wrong decision, and concerns about losing control. Her approach is unhurried and genuinely collaborative. She listens carefully, explains options in plain language, and walks clients through each decision with patience and clarity. Clients consistently describe her as reassuring and steady, and frequently note that her guidance helped them finally complete planning they had been putting off for years.
Her practice focuses on designing plans that work not only legally, but practically and emotionally for the families behind them. Ms. Ocasio regularly advises clients on the long-term implications of their choices, particularly when navigating the intersection of asset protection, Medicaid eligibility, and the goal of maintaining flexibility and dignity as they age.
Denise’s practice includes:
- Estate planning and trust-based planning
- Probate, estate, and trust litigation
- Revocable and irrevocable trust planning
- Medicaid planning and asset protection
- Elder law and long-term care planning
- Nursing home neglect and elder abuse matters
Ms. Ocasio earned her Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the State University of New York at Albany. She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York and serves clients throughout Bergen County, Northern New Jersey, and the New York metropolitan area. She is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
When she is not practicing law, Ms. Ocasio can most often be found planning the next adventure with her husband and two daughters, a passion for travel that she hopes to pass on to the next generation.
